This garden office by Executive Garden Rooms was designed for clients seeking a practical yet attractive workspace at home. Nestled at the end of the garden and positioned within three boundary fences, this office maximises space with clever design choices in terms of both materials and layout. Its front elevation features beautiful Western Red Cedar, while the other three elevations are clad in durable, low-maintenance Cedral in a dark grey finish.
Cedar and Cedral: A Smart Exterior Combination
The front elevation features Western Red Cedar, renowned for its attractive appearance and low-maintenance nature. When left untreated, Cedar gradually weathers to a silver-grey tone, which many find appealing. To help preserve its natural colour, Executive Garden Rooms applies a UV oil to the Cedar boards during installation. This treatment does require occasional reapplication—typically every few years—to maintain its protection.
The hidden elevations are clad in Cedral, a cement-fibre board engineered for durability and long-term appearance retention. Cedral is factory-pigmented, which means it won’t need painting over time, making it an ideal choice for hard-to-reach areas. Not only is Cedral low-maintenance, but it also has excellent fire-resistant properties, enhancing compliance with UK Building Regulations.
4.5m x 2.9m Garden Office
Executive Garden Rooms offers bespoke designs, ensuring each garden building meets the specific needs and dimensions of the client’s space. In this case, the garden office measures 4.5m by 2.9m—an ideal size for a home workspace without overwhelming the garden.
The dark grey uPVC windows and doors marry well with the Cedar, creating a sleek, modern look. The configuration of these floor-to-ceiling windows offers good natural light while featuring opening windows for ventilation. The doors and windows have been fitted with integral blinds that are encased between the panes of glass, keeping them dust-free and maintenance-free.
Interior Finishes and Electrical Features
Inside, Executive Garden Rooms finish their rooms to a high-standard, with a durable laminate floor and professionally plastered, decorated walls and ceilings. The electrical package includes multiple double sockets, LED downlights, an outdoor security light, a Cat6 data point for high-speed internet, and a smoke alarm for added safety.
