At first glance, this 5m x 3m building by Ark Design Build looks like a simple home office. Look closely, however, and you’ll spot a hidden door leading to a storage room.
Combining two functions under one roof is an efficient use of space. By eliminating the need for a separate garden shed, you can streamline the layout and keep your garden looking less cluttered.
The storage shed in this design measures 1.2m wide and runs the full depth of the building, making it slightly larger than the average garden shed. All Ark Design Build garden offices are made to measure, so the storage area can be customised to any size you prefer.
As standard, Ark Design Build finishes the interiors of their offices with plastered and decorated walls, creating a space that feels like a room in a new house. The storage areas, however, are finished with a practical OSB (oriented strand board) lining. OSB is a durable material, perfect for the wear and tear of a shed. Being a structural board, it’s also ideal for adding hooks and shelves to maximise the space.
Thermowood Cladding Adds Character
The exterior of the garden office is clad in Thermowood, an engineered softwood known for its long-lasting, low-maintenance properties. Thermowood is a more affordable alternative to Cedar cladding, while still offering a natural grain that adds plenty of character to the building.
The door to the storage room is carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the rest of the building. The Ark Design Build team have aligned the boards on the door with those on the walls, making it almost invisible.
