This impressive project by Lux Garden Rooms brings together work, wellness and relaxation in one sleek garden building. Designed for a client in Leeds, West Yorkshire, the 8.1m x 3.5m building has been thoughtfully arranged to include a versatile home office and gym space, a separate sauna room, and a covered jacuzzi area—creating a year-round retreat just steps from the house.
A Multifunctional Space Tailored to Lifestyle
The client approached Lux Garden Rooms with a clear vision: to combine multiple lifestyle elements in one high-quality garden building. They needed a main room that would serve as both a home office and fitness area, with room for weights, a bike and cross trainer. In addition, they wanted a dedicated outdoor sauna space and a covered decked area for their two-person jacuzzi, creating a tranquil retreat to unwind in.
Designed for Comfort and Versatility
Lux Garden Rooms designed a building that balances all three functions without compromise. The main room measures 5.5m x 3.5m, providing ample space for both work and exercise. The space is filled with natural light thanks to two floor-to-ceiling windows and a skylight recess above the gym zone. A sliding door to the front and a practical side entrance offer flexibility in how the space is accessed and used.
Inside, the walls and ceiling have been fully plastered and decorated, creating a bright and comfortable environment suitable for everyday use. The electrical layout has been carefully planned to support both office and fitness equipment, and WiFi connectivity ensures the room is ready for modern working.
A Dedicated Sauna and Outdoor Relaxation Area
A high-spec 1.3m x 2.6m sauna room adjoins the main building. Though compact, it comfortably accommodates three people and is fitted with a 6kW Harvia Moderna heater and finished in smooth Thermo Aspen timber. LED lighting has been cleverly incorporated into the walls, elevating the feel and creating a warm, spa-like atmosphere. Just outside, a 2.2m x 2.6m covered decking area provides shelter for the jacuzzi—ideal for use in any weather.

Built to Last with High Performance Materials
The structure is constructed from Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), offering excellent insulation and energy efficiency. The building sits on stainless steel ground screws, ensuring a secure foundation with minimal disruption to the garden. Although positioned close to the boundary, the overall height was kept to 2.5m to comply with Permitted Development rules—removing the need for planning approval.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection
The covered canopy area creates a natural extension of the sauna space and is decked in high-quality materials. It offers privacy and shelter for the hot tub, while enhancing the feeling of continuity between indoors and out.
