Concrete Slab Foundation
As part of their turnkey service, Cosy Garden Rooms installs a concrete slab foundation. They favour this traditional foundation over options like ground screws or pad foundations because it provides solid support across the entire building’s footprint.
On top of the concrete, they add foil-faced rigid insulation and an OSB subfloor, creating an ideal base for the final flooring. This construction also allows for a higher ceiling height compared to designs with timber floor frames. The solid slab further prevents vermin from nesting beneath the structure.
Multi-Layer Structure
Where many garden room companies use basic external cladding over an insulated frame, Cosy Garden Rooms includes additional layers for durability and comfort.
The timber framework is reinforced with OSB boards, secured at regular intervals. This layer, often omitted by competitors, not only strengthens the structure but also provides added security. A moisture-resistant breather membrane wraps around the OSB, followed by external cladding. Clients can choose from a range of low-maintenance options, including Western Red Cedar and Hardie Plank cement board.
Inside, the walls are lined with grooved-profile MDF panels, which Cosy Garden Rooms paints in your choice of colour, creating a sleek, cohesive look.
With these carefully selected materials—including foil-faced PIR insulation in walls and floor, Rockwool in the roof, and double-glazed doors and windows—Cosy Garden Rooms ensures comfort and usability throughout the year.
