Some garden room designers have a gift for creating buildings that nestle into the garden, allowing the structure to blend harmoniously with the existing planting. One such company is Ark Design Build, which focuses on projects in the Kent and Sussex areas.
This garden room with a secret storage shed, built in Sevenoaks, demonstrates how effectively Ark Design Build integrates their garden rooms into established gardens. The design maximises the available space while ensuring that the existing planting has room to thrive.

L-Shaped Garden Room with Shed
The building is designed on an L-shaped footprint, measuring 8m x 4m at its largest point, with the storage shed positioned in the smaller wing of the L-shape.
The storage room is accessed externally through a 'secret' door. Ark Design Build clads the front of these doors to blend seamlessly with the exterior wall finish. This design not only enhances the aesthetics but also adds a layer of security by making the door unobtrusive.
While the main garden room features a high-spec plastered and decorated interior, the storage room has a simpler, highly durable OSB finish—ideal for storage rooms and workshops.
The main room has a wonderful indoor-outdoor feel, thanks to 3-leaf bi-fold doors. The high-spec aluminium doors are colour-matched with the roof trims and exterior light fittings. The dark grey door frames lend a contemporary look, complementing the Western Red Cedar cladding.
The bi-fold doors open onto a large composite deck, creating a lovely inside-outside living space. As you can see, the deck has been carefully positioned to accommodate the surrounding trees and planting.
