Cabin Master Garden Room with Cloakroom and Store

This 8.4m x 3m project by Cabin Master is a great example of a hybrid garden room, where the footprint is divided into distinct rooms that support everyday life in different ways. Here, partition walls create a storage room on the right-hand side, while the larger room to the left works as both a home office and family space.
A compact cloakroom has also been fitted into the main room, making the home office self-contained from the house. The result is a building that can handle work, downtime, practical storage and day-to-day convenience under one well-designed roof.
One Building, Multiple Roles
Cabin Master's designers work with clients to shape the room layout around how the space will be used, while keeping the exterior as one cohesive structure. The office zone sits comfortably alongside a softer family area, and both benefit from generous glazing that keeps the room connected to the garden.
This is where the hybrid format works well: rather than building separate structures for each use, the plan brings them together in a single envelope.
Redwood and Marley Board Cladding
Externally, the owners chose Redwood cladding, which brings a warm honey tone and a distinctive grain pattern to the front and side elevations. Redwood remains a popular choice for this type of project because it is durable, characterful and sits naturally in a garden setting. The Redwood cladding pairs well with the anthracite grey uPVC door and window frames, roof fascia and soffit.
On the less accessible walls, the timber cladding is paired with slate grey Marley board, a low-maintenance fibre cement cladding that is ideal where access for maintenance is more difficult.
Strong Indoor-Outdoor Garden Connection
A corner glazing arrangement with two sets of sliding doors opens the main room towards the patio and lawn, creating a strong indoor-outdoor connection in every season. A small high-level opening window on the rear wall is another thoughtful detail, allowing background ventilation without needing to leave the main doors open.
Cabin Master also handled the level change between patio and internal floor with a wrap-around step detail. It is a simple move that makes access safer and the transition from outside to inside feel neatly resolved.
Stylish Detailing Inside and Out
Two tall, narrow windows are positioned around the desk area, bringing in daylight and garden views across the workspace. In the storage room, a solid anthracite grey uPVC door with a multi-point locking system provides secure independent access.
Inside the storeroom, the walls are finished in the same beaded tongue-and-groove panelling used in the main room. In many storage spaces, rawer finishes such as OSB or plywood are often used. Here, the painted panelling creates a brighter interior, making it easier for the owners to see and organise what they have.
Interior Finish and Year-Round Comfort
The main room has a welcoming, comfortable feel, with beaded tongue-and-groove panelling finished in white and a deep green feature wall. That two-tone palette gives a calm backdrop for both office furniture and family use.
As with other Cabin Master garden rooms, full insulation supports year-round comfort, and in this case the owners specified air conditioning so they can set a consistent working temperature through all seasons. The team also reinforced the TV wall and computer wall at build stage to support heavier wall-mounted equipment, an important design-stage detail that is easy to overlook.
The project was completed in seven days from base to painted finish, showing how quickly a well-planned hybrid layout can be delivered.
