We often talk about the versatility of garden rooms, and this project by Timeless Garden Rooms highlights just that. Designed as a boutique garden bedroom with an ensuite shower room, it showcases the potential of garden spaces.
Nestled in a pretty corner of the garden and finished to a high standard, Timeless Garden Rooms worked closely with their clients to create a guest bedroom that wouldn’t feel out of place in an upscale hotel.
Pre-Determined Design from the Customer
The clients approached Timeless Garden Rooms with clear design ideas. They wanted a comfortable double bedroom with an ensuite shower room, as well as a covered porch area where guests could remove muddy shoes before entering.
Timeless Garden Rooms are accustomed to collaborating closely with their clients on bespoke designs and were happy to meet this detailed brief. A customer with a clear vision can be invaluable to the design process, providing the designer with clear direction.
After several meetings to refine the layout and maximise the use of the available space, the clients settled on a building measuring 3m wide by 5.5m deep. This design allowed the structure to fit seamlessly within the existing garden while offering views of the fields beyond.
The shower room was positioned in the recess created by the porch area. Though compact, the bathroom includes all essential amenities: a shower, toilet, and basin.
Garden Room Bedrooms Must Comply with Building Regulations
Any garden room intended for sleeping, even occasionally, must comply with Building Regulations. Experienced designers like Timeless Garden Rooms guide clients through this process, making the necessary adjustments to the building's specifications and ensuring the work is signed off for full compliance.
Customer Input on Finishing Touches
The clients were highly involved in choosing the finishing details for their garden room. Externally, they selected a soft green finish for the cladding, which paired beautifully with the Cedar shingle roof.
Inside, they opted for a feature panelled wall behind the bed, enhancing the boutique feel of the space. Bedside reading lights were also installed to complete the elegant look.
Garden Rooms on the Isle of Wight
This project was built on the Isle of Wight. The clients had approached several companies for quotes but were told that many did not service the island. However, Kent-based Timeless Garden Rooms has built multiple garden rooms on the Isle of Wight over the years and were more than happy to take on the project. Although the clients paid a small premium to cover ferry costs, the project was otherwise priced as if it were on the mainland.
The result is a beautiful guest accommodation that will surely have visitors lining up to stay!
