This charming art studio, created by Hargreaves Garden Spaces, showcases thoughtful design paired with practical functionality. The client opted for olive green composite cladding for the exterior, ensuring the studio seamlessly blends with the natural tones of the garden. It’s a choice that perfectly balances aesthetics and low-maintenance convenience.
Built on Tricky Sloping Ground
Measuring 3.5m x 3m, the art studio was constructed on challenging sloping ground, adjacent to a retaining wall. While many garden room companies might avoid such a complex site, Hargreaves Garden Spaces rose to the challenge with a custom-designed foundation.
Their solution combined concrete strip foundations and pile foundations, creating a secure base. Additionally, they built a set of decked steps for easy access, complete with space for outdoor seating. A safety balustrade ensures secure use of the area near the retaining wall.
Low-Maintenance Composite Cladding
Hargreaves Garden Spaces offers a broad selection of exterior cladding options, including Western Red Cedar, British Cedar, Scandinavian Redwood, and combinations of render and timber. For this project, the client selected composite cladding, a practical and visually appealing choice.
Composite cladding is pigmented with colour during production, eliminating the need for repainting. Its durable finish resists rot and fungal attacks, making it a long-lasting, low-maintenance option.
In this instance, the olive green composite cladding pairs well with anthracite grey uPVC door and window frames. The studio features sliding doors on the front elevation and a full-height window on the left-hand wall, offering plentiful natural light—an essential element for a creative workspace.
Stylish, Fully Finished Interior
As with all Hargreaves Garden Spaces projects, the interior matches the quality of a newly built home. The studio features durable laminate flooring, plastered and painted walls, and skirting boards, delivering a polished finish.
The space is fully wired for electricity, with smart light and power sockets enabling remote control via a smartphone. This added functionality enhances convenience for the studio owner, ensuring the electrics are as versatile as the space itself.
