Working with a bespoke garden room design company means a single building can serve several uses under one roof. Rather than settling for a standard box, the owner can decide how much space each activity takes and how each room is finished. This Miniature Manors project is a good example of that approach. The brief was for a family room to relax and game in, a secure store for garden tools, and a sheltered spot for a hot tub, all delivered as one considered building at the end of the family garden.
One Building, Two Rooms, and a Sheltered Hot Tub
The insulated garden room measures 7m x 3.5m and sits to the right of the plot at the end of the garden. It is divided into two rooms, each with its own external access, so they work independently of one another. The storage room sits to the right, with the main family room in the middle. The roof then extends beyond the building to create a covered 3m x 3.5m hot tub area, and because the outdoor section is finished in the same James Hardie weatherboard as the garden room, the whole structure reads as one streamlined building rather than a room with an add-on.
The back wall of the hot tub area is clad in the same Hardie Plank, while the left-hand side is left open so the boundary planting stays in view. It is a small decision that makes a difference: the shelter is there when it is wanted, but the sense of sitting in the garden is not lost.
A Crisp, Contemporary Exterior
Externally, the building has clean contemporary lines, accentuated by the Pearl Grey Hardie Plank set against Anthracite Grey doors, windows, and trims. The front wall of the insulated room is recessed, framed by a wall cheek detail to the right and a roof canopy overhang above. Exterior LED downlights are fitted under that overhang and continue through into the hot tub area, tying the two spaces together after dark.
Softwood decking runs along the front of the building, wrapping into the hot tub canopy and back out into the garden, where the owners have created a dining area. The result is a single deck level that links the family room, the hot tub, and an al fresco table without a step or a change in material to interrupt it.
A Secure, Practical Store
The storage room is lined in durable OSB, a sensible choice for a space that needs to take shelves, hooks, and the everyday knocks of garden tools going in and out. A multi-point locking door keeps the room secure, so mowers and equipment can be stored with confidence rather than left in a shed or cluttering the garden.
Quality Finishes in the Main Room
The main room is entered through a large set of sliding doors, with the glazing arranged to bring in light from more than one direction. A letterbox-style window sits high in the side wall, and a full-height window runs just along from the sliding doors, so the space stays bright without giving up wall space for furniture or a television.
Inside, Miniature Manors finish their interiors to a high specification, with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling and LVT flooring underfoot. The finish gives the owners a hard-wearing, house-quality backdrop that suits a room used for gaming, relaxing, and everyday family life.
Full Turnkey Delivery
Miniature Manors managed the project as part of their turnkey service, from design through to a finished, ready-to-use building. That single point of responsibility is much of the appeal of working this way: the layout, the finishes in each room, the decking, and the lighting are all resolved together rather than coordinated across separate trades.
The owner's feedback reflected that. "A beautifully crafted garden room was installed with great precision and expertise," said Mrs Jackson of Lindfield, West Sussex. "Enthusiasm, skill, attention to detail and pride in work was in evidence throughout the project. Team members were punctual, friendly and polite and cleared up well each day and on completion. We can certainly recommend Richard and his team."
