Working from a kitchen table or spare bedroom might be fine if you work alone at a computer, but if your business involves welcoming clients, it’s a different story. Having a dedicated space in the garden creates a professional environment while maintaining separation between work and family life — better for both you and your clients.
This project by Sanctum Garden Studios shows that you don’t need a huge garden room or an big budget to achieve this. Their client, Diane, chose the Hampton Studio to launch her holistic therapy business, and the result is a welcoming, professional workspace that her clients love.
The Hampton Studio – Small but Versatile
The Hampton range is a popular choice because it’s well specified, available in three versatile sizes, and can be installed in just a day. This project features the largest option, measuring 3.6m wide by 2.4m deep. At under 2.5m in height, it’s Permitted Development friendly, although it’s always important to check your unique planning situation, particularly when running a business from your garden.
At the time of writing (September 2025), this size costs £10,995 plus delivery — a very competitive option that can quickly pay for itself compared with renting premises or commissioning a house extension.
Despite its modest footprint, the Hampton includes everything needed for a professional workspace:
- Fully insulated walls, floor, and roof for year-round use
- Double glazed doors and windows
- Electrically wired, with a junction box on the exterior wall for straightforward connection
Inside, the smooth matt wall boards can be left as they are or finished with paint or wallpaper to create the right atmosphere for your business. The ceiling is a maintenance-free white panel with a grooved profile, while flooring options such as light oak laminate add to the professional feel.
A Glazed Front Wall as Standard
One of the Hampton’s key design features is its fully glazed front wall. Buyers can choose the position of the single outward-opening door — centrally placed or offset to the left or right. For this project, Diane also chose to add an opening side window to improve ventilation, along with the optional Western Red Cedar cladding on one wall. The warm tones of the Cedar contrast beautifully with the Anthracite Grey doors, windows, and trims.
Ready to Use in Just a Day
The Hampton’s appeal lies not only in its specification but also in how quickly it can be up and running. The Sanctum team install the foundation and the building itself in a single day, leaving only the electrical connection for a qualified electrician to complete. Once your electrician connects the armoured cabling from the house to the junction box and certifies the system, the building is ready to use.
For Diane, this meant she was able to furnish her studio immediately with a therapy bed and chair, transforming it into a tranquil space for her clients.
She reflects:
We considered using our house but didn’t want strangers in and out. An extension was four times the cost, and renting premises was too much of a commitment for a new business. A garden room was the ideal solution — and the Hampton ticked every box.”
A Cost-Effective Business Base
With her new therapy suite in place, Diane has created a professional environment that supports her clients while allowing her to keep home life separate. The investment has already proven worthwhile: installation was completed in less than a day, and she was able to start welcoming clients right away.
My clients love the space inside. It’s just the right size and creates such a tranquil environment.”
