The Party is Getting Started in the Annexe

At the end of a Kent garden lies a high-spec garden annexe by Ark Design Build, designed to be the ultimate party zone. With its sleek, modern aesthetic, Ark Design Build has meticulously crafted this annexe to provide the perfect space for dancing and entertainment. Upon entering, you’ll immediately hear the music from the impressive DJ booth at the far end of the room. The space feels open and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing plenty of natural light to flood in, creating a bright, inviting atmosphere ideal for any celebration. With ample room for dancing and socialising, this garden annexe is the ultimate party destination.
This project is a garden annexe rather than a typical garden room. A garden annexe has a higher specification, with the work signed off by Building Control. Designing to Building Regulation standards ensures the building is of the same quality as a new-build house. Building Control approval also means the annexe can be used as sleeping accommodation.
The L-shaped annexe features a well-equipped kitchen and shower room. While it’s currently a party space, with the right permissions, it could easily be used as a self-contained living annexe in the future.
Planning approval was obtained for the annexe. The design called for a 3m tall garden building, providing a greater ceiling height than would be allowed under Permitted Development rules. This extra height creates a wonderfully airy feel inside.
The building’s L-shaped footprint includes high-spec bi-fold doors on two elevations, which open up the front corner of the building onto the garden. This allows the party to spill outside when the weather is good.
Garden Annexe with a Modern Aesthetic
Ark Design Build creates garden rooms and annexes with a modern exterior style. The exterior of this annexe is clad in vertically fitted Thermowood tongue-and-groove cladding, which accentuates the cubed roofline. The dark grey roof kerb matches the bi-fold doors and windows, creating a cohesive, contemporary look.
Smart exterior light fittings have been installed around the building. These lights cast a soft glow down the exterior walls, extending the annexe’s use into the evening.
Light-Filled Interior with Custom Fit-Out
Unlike some of their competitors, Ark Design Build offers custom interior fit-outs as part of their bespoke service. This project includes a stylish, bespoke kitchen area and an impressive DJ booth. The exterior cladding has been cleverly mirrored inside, around the DJ booth and custom seating/storage area.
Look closely at the wall next to the DJ booth, and you’ll notice a hidden door leading to the shower room. Ark Design Build handles all the connections to mains supplies for the shower room and kitchen.
The annexe feels wonderfully light and airy, thanks to the wraparound bi-fold doors and large skylights in the ceiling. Natural light reflects off the crisp white plastered walls and ceiling, enhancing the bright and open atmosphere.
