Miniature Manors specialises in crafting bespoke garden buildings tailored to each client's unique requirements. This hipped roof garden gym, situated in an East Sussex garden, demonstrates their dedication to creating personalised, high-quality designs.
Reflecting the Style of the Main House
The clients envisioned a home gym that complemented the architectural style of their main house. Miniature Manors excel at such commissions, skillfully incorporating design elements inspired by their clients' homes. A similar approach was used in their previously featured Tudor-style garden room.
Dimensions and Planning Approval
This garden gym measures 4m x 4.5m, with its hipped roof reaching 4m at the highest point. Since the building is located within 2m of the boundaries, planning permission was required. Miniature Manors' architectural designers managed the planning process, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
The Appeal of a Hipped Roof
Hipped roofs are less common in garden room designs today, largely due to the craftsmanship required to construct them. Miniature Manors' skilled team has delivered a roof that looks stunning from every angle. The roof is finished with clay tiles and hip caps, while deep eaves and exterior downlights provide a refined aesthetic and practical lighting.
Year-Round Comfort
Built on a traditional timber framework, the gym features a multi-layer construction system. High-performance insulation in the floors, walls, and roof ensures comfortable use throughout the year. Aluminium-framed, high-spec double glazing enhances the structure’s thermal performance and durability.
A Blend of Traditional and Contemporary Design
This project cleverly marries traditional materials and modern features. The roof’s clay tiles and featheredge cladding offer a timeless aesthetic, while the large corner of glazing introduces a contemporary touch. Anthracite grey aluminium sliding doors maximise natural light and allow for a seamless connection to the garden.
Vaulted Ceiling for a Spacious Interior
The hipped roofline creates an impressive vaulted ceiling inside the gym. This design ensures generous headroom, surpassing the standard 2.5m height of many garden rooms. The plastered, decorated interior highlights the lines of the ceiling, creating a bright, airy space ideal for fitness activities.
