A garden room provides an ideal, tranquil space for therapy sessions, creating a private and calming environment that enhances the therapeutic process. This project by Garden Affairs showcases how a garden room can be tailored for professional use, in this case for a hypnotherapist.
Separating Family and Work Life When Working from Home
Previously, Garden Affairs customer conducted her therapy sessions in the living room, which was less than ideal. The presence of family photos and the need to constantly tidy the space made it challenging to create a truly professional atmosphere.
When considering other options, she looked into renting a commercial space in town. However, availability was limited, and the costs were high. Additionally, renting would have tied her to fixed appointment slots, limiting her flexibility.
Adding a bespoke garden room was the perfect solution for her hypnotherapy business. With exclusive access to the garden room throughout the week, she could offer flexible appointment times, which benefitted both her practice and her clients. Clients could attend sessions without entering the main house, allowing for privacy even when the family was at home.
Clients access the therapy room through a back gate, ensuring a balance between a professional workspace and home life.
4.2m x 2.4m Garden Therapy Suite with W.C.
After thorough consideration, the client chose a 4.2m x 2.4m building from Garden Affairs’ Flat Roof Log Cabin range. This model is constructed using 44mm thick interlocking timber, with insulated floor and roof structures. Double-glazed doors and windows complete the design, ensuring comfort throughout the year.
The internal layout was adapted to include a W.C., so clients could use the facilities without needing to enter the main house. The main room comfortably accommodates a desk and seating for hypnotherapy sessions.
Since the Flat Roof Log Cabin range stands under 2.5m in height, it can be positioned close to garden boundaries in accordance with Permitted Development rules. As shown in the photos, placing the room in a garden corner ensures it integrates seamlessly into the outdoor space without dominating it.
Client Feedback
The main benefit for me is the flexibility it offers. I can schedule clients when it suits them, which has helped me expand my practice. My husband, who works from home, even uses it occasionally! And when it’s not occupied for work, my children love to read or do homework here in peace.”
