Reading Time: 3 minutes
This 30 sqm building by Blyss Garden Rooms has been custom-designed to meet the specific needs of an osteopath. The multifunctional space serves as both a home office and a treatment room, with the structure specially reinforced to accommodate ceiling-mounted equipment used in treatments.
Blyss Garden Rooms enhanced the roof structure to support ceiling hooks, allowing the installation of rope ladders and an Indian swing. These elements are essential for the osteopath’s unique treatment techniques, and the design of the building was adjusted accordingly.
3m Tall Garden Office for Maximum Flexibility
To ensure the hanging equipment could be used safely and comfortably, a 3m-high building was constructed. While most garden offices are typically limited to 2.5m in height under Permitted Development rules, a planning application was submitted to allow for this taller structure.
A Toilet Saves Patients Needing to Use the House
The office/treatment room includes an on-site toilet, adding convenience for patients and helping to create a clear division between work and home life. We particularly like the use of a pocket door, which offers an excellent space-saving solution in smaller areas.
Cedral Exterior Cladding: Low Maintenance & Durable
As this garden room exceeds 30 sqm, it had to comply with Building Regulations. Blyss Garden Rooms made several adjustments to the building’s specification to ensure it met safety standards, particularly in terms of fire resistance. One significant aspect of this was the use of Cedral cladding—a cement fibreboard that’s both non-combustible and low maintenance. The material’s durability means it won’t rot, and its colour-fast finish eliminates the need for regular painting.
High-Spec Electrical System
The office is fully plastered and decorated, and features a well-specified electrical system designed for modern needs. Air conditioning keeps the space comfortable year-round, while Ethernet cabling ensures a reliable internet connection. HDMI cabling and integrated speakers have also been installed, allowing for easy projector use in two locations.
