Swift Unlimited transformed a family’s outdoor space in Finchampstead, Berkshire, into a stunning multifunctional garden room tailored for entertaining, relaxation, and practicality. The Swift Unlimited team worked closely with their clients and the project evolved into a standout example of how a bespoke design can adapt to meet changing needs.
This garden room was designed to serve multiple purposes. Alongside providing the family with extra living space, including a storage area and a daytime lounge, its primary role was to create a vibrant hub for hosting gatherings. The addition of a fully fitted kitchen seamlessly connected to both indoor and outdoor dining areas ensured the space could be used in any season—perfect for the British climate.
Adaptable Design, Seamless Execution
The project saw several design refinements during construction, highlighting Swift Unlimited’s ability to adapt to client needs. Although the garden room was not intended as a self-contained annexe, the family requested the inclusion of a convenient shower room, enhancing the functionality of the space.
To maximise natural light, bi-fold doors spanning the entire width of the garden room were installed, creating a harmonious flow between the interior and the large decking area. A small adjustment to the decking layout extended the entertaining space further, seamlessly blending the indoor and outdoor spaces. This thoughtful design provided the family with even more room to host friends and enjoy their garden.
Challenges Met with Expertise

From road closures to challenging weather conditions, the Swift Unlimited team rose to the occasion, ensuring that the build stayed on track. These obstacles only underscored the team’s problem-solving expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional results.
A Stunning Finished Product
Measuring an impressive 10 x 5.4 metres, the finished garden room is a testament to high-quality craftsmanship. Clad in rich Cedar and complemented by dark grey accents, the exterior is both contemporary and timeless. Exterior lighting adds a touch of luxury, enhancing the space as the sun sets.
Inside, the family opted for a soft grey and natural wood palette, creating a cohesive aesthetic that reflects the exterior. Vibrant pops of colour in textiles add warmth and character, completing a space that is as functional as it is beautiful.
