This bespoke insulated workshop by Miniature Manors demonstrates how a garden room can be tailored to make the most of a challenging plot.
Miniature Manors' client sought to create an insulated studio workshop in a small garden with a tapered site—wider at the front and narrower at the back. Many garden room providers they consulted offered standard rectangular designs, which would have left awkward, unused spaces beside the workshop.
As experts in bespoke garden room design, Miniature Manors approached the project with creativity and flexibility. By crafting a custom design with angled walls, they maximised the available space while ensuring the workshop would be both functional and comfortable.
Precision Design with 3D Modelling
During the design process, Miniature Manors provided the client with detailed 3D models of the proposed building. These scale drawings not only showcased how the space would look but also highlighted how storage and workbenches could be effectively integrated.
Unique Window Configuration
Despite being located between a wall and another building, the workshop features an impressive amount of glazing. A mix of full-height, high-level, and bench-height windows ensures a bright and inviting workspace, while also framing different views of the garden.
The positioning of the French doors was another thoughtful touch. By offsetting them on the front wall, the design accommodates a large drawer unit, optimising the workshop’s functionality without compromising its aesthetic appeal.
Built for Year-Round Comfort
Like all Miniature Manors designs, this workshop is fully insulated, making it a pleasant space to work in throughout the year. The multi-layer construction, which includes specialist membranes, ensures the interior remains dry and materials stored inside are protected. This level of attention prevents issues like dampness, common in less robust shed-like structures.
