Garden Spaces collaborates closely with clients to create bespoke garden rooms tailored to individual needs, perfectly illustrated by this versatile, multi-function garden building.
The client wanted to replace an old garden shed with a space that offered more flexibility. Working alongside the Garden Spaces team, they designed an L-shaped building featuring a year-round main room and a discreet storage area at the back.
Thoughtfully Designed Garden Room and Storage Space
This building spans 4m by 4.68m, yielding a main room of 10.9 square metres and a storage area of 2.7 square metres. The design combines form and function with a mix of floor-to-ceiling glass panels and smaller, opening windows. Instead of a fully glazed front, the client opted for a unique window arrangement that enhances the view of the garden while maintaining privacy. A single-glazed door offers easy access, with corner glazing framing garden views beautifully.
Premium Exterior Materials
The windows and doors feature black uPVC frames, which contrast sharply with the Western Red Cedar cladding, creating a contemporary look. This striking black accent is echoed in the kerbing along the roof and a slim composite deck that wraps around the building.
Integrated Blinds for Style and Privacy
The client chose to integrate blinds into the glazing, selecting a green shade to match the garden’s natural tones. These integrated blinds are fitted between the glass panes and operate smoothly via a magnetic pulley system, offering both privacy and a splash of colour.
High-quality Interior Features
Inside, the client opted for an underfloor heating system, making the space comfortable year-round. They upgraded the flooring to engineered oak, which lends a refined, natural look to the room while adding durability.
The garden room is well equipped electrically with eight dimmable LED downlights inside and five outdoor-grade LED downlights outside. Five double power sockets are strategically placed for added convenience.
Discreet Storage Solution
A hidden storage room sits at the back, accessible through a ‘secret’ door clad in matching Cedar. This area is designed for practicality, with exposed OSB board walls for durability and a strip light for illumination, making it ideal for storing tools and equipment.
