6m x 4m Garden Room with Storage

This 6m x 4m garden room, designed and built by Executive Garden Rooms, was created as part of a wider garden landscaping project in Lymington. The brief came from a local architect, who chose Executive Garden Rooms for their reputation for building to a high specification and personalising each project around the client's needs — a mark of confidence in their turnkey service.
Contemporary Finish with a Bespoke Touch
While many garden rooms feature Anthracite Grey doors and windows, this building takes a more distinctive route with light grey aluminium frames. The large sliding doors are configured to meet at a corner, creating a striking glazed corner feature that frames views across the newly landscaped garden. The aluminium corner post has been colour-matched to the frames for a streamlined finish. A solid door in the same light grey finish leads discreetly into a separate storage room, and both rooms include a small rear window positioned high for easy ventilation without interrupting the clean aesthetic.
Western Red Cedar Fixed Horizontally
The exterior is clad in Western Red Cedar, fixed horizontally to elongate the visual lines of the building. While vertical fixings are common, the horizontal orientation here complements the building’s clean-lined, contemporary form. To help maintain the rich reddish-brown hues of the timber, a UV-protective oil has been applied. With periodic top-ups, this finish will preserve the colour and reduce the natural weathering process to silver-grey.
A deep roof overhang accentuates the building’s crisp architectural lines and has been clad in Cedar to match the main structure. It also provides subtle shading and helps protect the façade. Exterior wall lights positioned either side of the sliding doors cast an inviting glow and subtly illuminate the entrances.
Tailored Interior Finishes
Inside, the main room is finished to a high standard, with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling, wooden flooring, and a bespoke electrical specification. As with all Executive Garden Rooms builds, the services were tailored to suit the client’s intended use — including the installation of air conditioning to ensure year-round comfort.
In contrast, the adjoining storage room has been designed with practicality in mind. The floor, walls, and ceiling are finished in OSB for durability, with recessed LED downlights and power sockets completing the fit-out.
Built to Building Regulation Standards
Executive Garden Rooms use a traditional insulated timber frame construction method, which they build themselves to ensure quality control at every stage. All their buildings are constructed to Building Regulation standards, giving clients confidence in the long-term performance and durability of the structure.
