This 5.5m x 4.8m garden gym building is by Hargreaves Garden Spaces. At 2.8m high, it is taller than the average garden room to offer extra headroom when working out.
Built for clients in Noth Yorkshire, Hargreaves Garden Spaces worked with them to create a building that worked for their needs - they wanted to create a home gym/workout studio. The HG Spaces designers created a building that was specific to their client's size requirements, had additional ceiling height, featured air conditioning and bi-fold doors, which offer an excellent connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Taller building than standard garden rooms
Standard garden rooms that are 2.5m high don't really offer enough headroom for use as a home gym, particularly if you use equipment like treadmills and cross-trainers.
For this reason, many garden gym buyers choose to increase the height of their building. An overall height of 2.8m is popular, this being 300mm taller than a standard height garden room. Not many companies offer taller designs like this, but Hargreaves Garden Spaces do.
A taller garden room like this needs planning approval. The Hargreaves Garden Spaces team provided their clients with drawings and helped with the forms, ensuring a successful application.
Scandinavian Redwood cladding
The exterior of this garden gym is clad in Scandinavian Redwood. As we can see, Scandinavian Redwood has a honey colouring and a lovely knotty grain pattern. It is treated before installation to protect it from insect and fungal attacks.
Scandinavian Redwood is a popular alternative to Cedar or Larch cladding as it works out cheaper. Choosing it can be a good way to maximise your budget or to free up funds for other features such as bi-fold doors.
As we can see in these photos, the Redwood looks great and will weather to a silvery grey colour with time. It also takes stain well, and if you wanted a coloured garden room, this could be a good basis for it.
The garden gym is fitted with air conditioning
Inside, Hargreaves Garden Spaces have plastered and decorated the walls and ceiling and mixed this with a wooden floor, thus creating a light, modern interior.
An air conditioning system has been fitted; this is a popular choice with garden gym buyers, allowing them to set the perfect temperature for working out.
With air conditioning systems, you have one unit sit high up on an interior wall. The second unit is positioned outside the building, normally hidden away on the rear elevation, so it is all quite discreet.
The gym has also been fitted with aluminium windows and bi-fold doors. Bi-fold doors are a nice choice for a garden gym building as they slide to one side opening up a big section of the wall.
