Swifts latest completed project, a large performing arts studio extension has been officially opened by local Yorkshire MP, William Hague. He was guided around the building by our proud clients, Mick and Barbara Sutcliffe-Cole before the ribbon-cutting ceremony and then speeches. Martin Lawson from Swift was invited to explain the merits of the SIP panel construction methods that lie beneath the traditional surface of this superb structure. The quality of the building was widely acknowledged, as was the similarity of baldness that the Foreign Secretary and Martin share!
This studio forms part of The Old Mill Centre in Skeeby, a place to relax, refresh and be inspired. Set in beautiful North Yorkshire, the clients have created a residential venue where the performing arts can now be enjoyed and fully utilised to help people in their lives. The fully equipped studio was designed to provide a large, well-equipped space for a wide variety of activities. Included are storage, utility and disabled WC facilities. The adjacent building has been refurbished by Swift to provide an office, quiet room and general function area. The building shows Swifts willingness and their ability to tune their project to suit the client’s needs. The main structure was erected in just 5 days and included custom-made and engineered SIP panels, structural beams and internal partitioning. Wiring for specialist stage equipment was carried out in addition to the standard electrical work, fire and smoke alarms and security alarms. The inside has additional sound insulation as well five roof-lights to bring in more natural light. Air-sourced heat pumps provide economical and easily adjusted climate control and the wide bi-fold doors open out to the courtyard.
Traditional English clay pan tiles form the roof and a stone – type wall cladding was imported from the USA to create a beautiful looking and efficient external appearance.
We are delighted with the finished building” said Martin, Director of Swift. “The relationship with our clients has been a pleasure and has enabled us to fine tune the building to make it perform beautifully. We combined the skills our own team of SIP installation experts with local tradesmen. This allowed the project to become more integrated with the community.”
Swift continue to show how SIPS panels are the perfect choice for any building. From a one-person office in a small back yard, to many hundreds of square metres of high-end accommodation…. They all benefit from speedy build times, excellent strength and admirable insulation properties.
