Those Garden Rooms launched in 2009, bringing together the design talents of industrial designer Barry Chatham and landscape architect Dru Allen. Having collaborated in the past to create gold medal winning gardens at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, they decided to combine their skills again and create a range of contemporary garden rooms.
Whilst Those Garden Rooms offer three standard models of garden room, which are soon to be available via a leading gardening website, most of their work has come from bespoke design commissions, where the team have been able to put their design skills to use in creating unique, tailor-made garden rooms.
Unlike many garden room suppliers who only build detached garden rooms, Those Garden Rooms can design garden rooms attached to the house, this type of garden room is a real alternative to a traditional brick built extension.
Those Garden Rooms range of standard buildings are available in three sizes 3m x 3m, 3.5m x 3m, 4m x 3m and are built using a traditional timber framework. Performance Celotex rigid insulation is fitted between the frame and the garden rooms have a cedar external cladding. Cedar is a very durable type of cladding which starts out a reddish brown colour and weathers to a silver grey. The roof is covered in a high performance EPDM rubber membrane which has a long maintenance free life span.
Full length UPVC doors and windows on the front elevation create the feeling of free flowing inside, outside space.
Internally the garden rooms are well specified with fully plastered walls and ceiling, and laminate wood flooring. The garden rooms are pre wired electrically with wall heater and 2-4 double sockets and 6-9 spotlights depending on the size of building.
The specification of the bespoke garden rooms depends on the building design and the requirements of the customer, but include high quality materials such as bi-fold doors which fold back to open up whole walls, roof lights and solid oak flooring.
Those Garden Rooms offer a free survey to discuss bespoke commissions and as a guide a 6m x 3.5m garden room attached to a house costs £19,800. The standard design garden rooms cost between £6,000 and £9,000 depending on size.
You have an opportunity to see Those Garden Rooms at the Home Improvement Show on 17 March 2010 at the NEC.
