Extra Rooms – Bespoke Garden Rooms
If ever there is an apt name for a garden room supplier its Extra Rooms because that’s exactly what theses bespoke timber buildings are – Extra Rooms!
Extra Rooms create bespoke fully insulated garden rooms designed for year round use. Because of their skill as bespoke designers Extra Rooms can create garden room solutions for awkward sites or if you want a building with multiple uses such as a garden office with integrated shed / store area, in addition because all buildings are built to order non standard sizes can be specified.
The team behind Extra Rooms have over 30 years experience in the building industry and they have developed a proven method for constructing their garden rooms. All buildings are built using the traditional timber frame method with walls finishing up around 127mm (5”) thick including insulation and air cavities which combine to make a warm building. As well as creating garden rooms that have good thermal insulation properties Extra Rooms can also build soundproof garden rooms for use as music rooms or recording studios, the Extra Rooms website has an interesting case study showing how a soundproof recording studio was built.
[caption id="attachment_2678" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Garden room construction"]Extra Rooms offer a choice of exterior wall claddings from feather edge boards which blend softly with the environment to log lap or profiled shiplap boards, all cladding is screwed into place rather than nailed. The eaves detail is exaggerated for aesthetic appeal but also provides added protection to the walls from the elements. You have a choice of roof coverings from long life hot rolled felt, tantalised pine shingles to Canadian cedar shingles.
All garden rooms have standard building regulation approved doors and windows which are glazed with toughened double glazed units. Doors and windows are fitted with insurance approved locks.
Internally Extra Rooms are plaster boarded and skimmed, and then painted and skirting’s are added giving the feeling of a ‘proper’ room, the floor is finished in a hardwearing laminate. All electrics are fitted within the frames whilst in the workshop so there are no ugly surface mounted electrics.
All Extra Rooms are built offsite meaning that 80% of the buildings is ready before it gets to site, onsite installation can take as little as one day.
The Extra Rooms website gives clear examples of price for their standard specifications and for extras such as foundations and sedum roofs. Extra Rooms seem very up front about costs and we don’t feel you’ll find there are hidden extras.
Lead times are currently around five weeks between deposit and installation and Extra Rooms offer a customer area on their website where you can see regularly updated photos of your garden room being built.
For those not looking for a bespoke garden room you can benefit from a special offer on some of the standard designs that Extra Rooms hold in stock. Built to the same high standards as their bespoke garden rooms, buildings can be brought from £6,000 plus VAT including installation – surly too good to miss!
