Each month we take a look at a particular style of garden room, this month we are looking at small garden rooms and the work of small building specialist Smart Garden Offices.
It takes real skill to design a small garden building, that is a useable space and doesn’t lack the features of its bigger siblings, but Smart Garden Offices have got it off to a tee!
The smallest building in the Smart Garden Offices range is the Micro which at 2.1 x 2.1m will fit into the smallest of gardens. It may be small but the Micro is fully formed with single, fully glazed door on the front elevation and a three pane casement window on the side. The Micro provides comfortable working space for one person.
The Micro’s bigger sister is the Solo garden office, and at 3.2 x 2m it is big enough for one worker plus visitors, the Solo is comparable in size to many houses third bedroom.
Both the Micro & Solo offices by Smart Garden Offices have 85mm thick walls filled with foil faced Celotex insulation meaning they are comfortable to use all year round. Garden offices come pre wired with double sockets, adjustable spotlights, dimmer switches and a fuse box. The windows and doors are UPVC with 28mm double glazed units which offer the office thermal performance and high levels security. The use of UPVC doors and windows coupled with durable exterior stain mean little maintenance is required.
Internally a Smart Garden Office is light and airy, the white walls and ceiling and fitted carpet make the garden office as comfortable as any room in the house.
To maximise the space and functionality of the garden office, Smart Garden Offices have designed a unique range of office furniture called VersaDesk as Smart Garden Offices Director Charlie Dalton explains:
“ Intelligent furniture design that complements each building allows our customers to choose a smaller office alterative, thereby saving valuable garden space and, of course, money.
Versions of the VersaDesk are available across the Smart Garden Office range from the 1-man Micro through to the 4-person Quarto.
Each VersaDesk is configured around the “cockpit” principle – a sculptured worktop allows you feel comfortably encapsulated by a capacious desk space with a 2 metre “wing” to each side. Adjacent to a large window, you feel rather like a pilot, with everything within arm’s reach; storage, shelves, filing cabinet and cupboards”
Prices for the Smart Garden Office range are also very appealing, the Micro costs just £3995 plus VAT whilst the bigger Solo comes in at £6980 plus VAT. Because of the unique features of the Smart Garden Office design they can easily be moved – if you move, because of this move ability factor Smart Garden Offices are also tax efficient – talk to your accountant about claiming VAT and capital allowances if you use your garden office for business.
