Recently, Bridge Timber Products were approached by a family in Gurnsey with a view to creating a large single storey extension to their home. Bridge Timber Products is one of a small number of garden room suppliers who covers the Channel Islands. The customer, who had by chance seen an extension that Bridge Timber Products had previously built on the island, invited the Bridge team to quote for their project.
The customer was looking to create a highly insulated extension, that would offer a lot of natural light and would match in with the style of the main house. A structural insulated panel system was chosen for the core structure, as it is one of the most highly insulated building systems available. Aluminium folding doors and a roof lantern were selected to flood the room with natural light. The exterior of the building was rendered to match in with the main house.
A Planning Application had to be made for the build, and once this was granted the Bridge team shipped all the materials for the project from their Yorkshire HQ. The installation team followed by ferry and stayed on the island until the job was complete. The complete build took just 12 days to complete; this just proves that a SIPS extension is the quick way to extend your home.

Internally a light, airy and modern living room has been created. The walls and ceiling have been plasterboarded, skimmed and decorated. The floor is finished in a hardwearing commercial grade laminate which has been laid over underfloor heating. The extension is fully wired electrically with ample double power sockets and LED downlights in the ceiling.

We had wanted a garden room for some time but the local quotes we received were horrendous. By chance we saw a previous extension built by Bridge Timber on Guernsey and we were impressed with the work. We contacted Kerri and Paul and after a few email exchanges we had a final quote which was very competitive. The timeframe for the build was also very quick.
