Sanctum Garden Studios saved the day, just before Christmas when Andy & Laura from Billingshurst were sadly let down at the last minute by another garden room company – thankfully this is not a common occurrence. With a tight schedule, they approached several garden room companies looking for a firm to restore their faith and install their building before the Christmas break.
Luckily, the Sanctum team already had a booking in the diary for a project in Sussex so were able to extend their stay in the area to create the building Andy & Laura had been planning. Even with a short timeframe to play with, Andy & Laura had the opportunity to thoroughly talk through their ideas with the Sanctum team. It was decided that a bespoke building from Sanctum’s Contemporary Range fitted the bill. A 5.4m x 3.2m building was manufactured with a non-standard 2.6m wide set of French doors on the front elevation.
Floor to ceiling windows let more light into the room. One window has been placed on the side wall near the front of the building. A second fixed glass panel has been positioned at the rear of the side wall. A floor to ceiling window with opening top panel has been finished on the rear wall creating a glazed corner. Its a clever idea adding some glazing at the rear of a long building like this.
The roof slopes from side to side, deep eaves have been created with Cedar clad soffits. Five exterior grade downlights have been fitted into the roof line, casting a nice light down the building.
The Sanctum Garden Studios team has plasterboarded the walls and ceiling. Andy & Laura had a local plasterer skim the room and then decorate it. This is an option that the Sanctum team offer to their clients as it is often more cost effective to engage a local plasterer than for the Sanctum team to be on site for an extra day. The six recessed downlights have been left hanging in these pictures until the plastering is completed.
The Sanctum team also installed an underfloor heating system with light oak laminate flooring and white skirting.
