Contemporary Garden Rooms designed and built this stylish poolside entertainment space. The building is based on their Apprentice range, but the design was customised to their client’s needs and tastes. The 9 meter by 3 meter building has been designed to serve several uses. Including a pump room for the swimming pool, full wet room plus outdoor shower area, an outdoor kitchen with bar and a spacious main living room.
Contemporary Garden Rooms client has a large garden with an area where they wanted to build a swimming pool and multi-functional entertainment suite. After initial talks and a site survey, the Contemporary Garden Rooms team produced designs for the project, including a 3d visualisation which they superimposed into a photo of the garden, to give their clients a clear idea of what the building would look like once insitu.
A build full of designer features
This garden room is full of designer features. As well as incorporating a wet room inside the building an outside shower has been created, for easy showering as you get out of the pool. Positioned to one side of the main room, the roof canopy extends to create a covered shower area complete with drench shower. The drain for the water has been neatly detailed within the paving. A feature has been made of this area by tiling it with slate, which gives the wall a tactile texture.
At the other end of the main room, an outside kitchen area has been created. Again, the roof has been extended beyond the main building to create a covered area. Slate has been created to form a feature wall and to clad the bar area. A high spec aluminium outside kitchen has been fitted. This incorporates a BBQ and an outside fridge. There is also a bar area.
The slate feature walls contrast sharply with the Cedar cladding. The addition of a third material makes this building stand out. Crisp white resin render has been used on the underside of the roof canopy and the soffits that run around the building. This is a clever choice as not only does it contrast strikingly with the other materials, it also helps bounce the light around. The white render has also been used as a feature frame around a window.
Inside outside space
This garden room has been designed to be one connected inside-outside space. This connection has been enhanced with the inclusion of a 5 meter wide set of bi-fold doors. The doors can be folded to one side to create a free-flowing inside-outside space.
No less attention has been given to the design details of the interior of the building. The main room is fully plastered and decorated. Underfloor heating was fitted under the wooden floor and designer Trendi electrical switches and sockets used throughout.
