If you are based in central Scotland and looking for a contemporary style garden room, you’ll want to check out Outside In Garden Rooms. The Glasgow based company was established in 2017 by Melaine Russell who spotted a gap in the market for a Scotland based garden room company. While there are several companies, who offer a UK wide service, as Melanie identified there are many benefits to working with a local company. For instance, as in this case, a specification that has been designed around the colder climate.
Outside In Garden Rooms are designed around your needs. After an initial meeting to discuss your options, you will be supplied with drawings and quotes for the project. Once you are happy to proceed your garden room will be manufactured and delivered to site in kit form for quick assembly.
The Outside In Garden Rooms team have created a specification that is highly insulated and wind tight, perfect for the harsher Scottish weather. The multi-layer build-up includes 70mm thick rigid insulation and insulated foil breather membrane, which wraps around the exterior of the building. This breathable membrane prevents moisture entering the core structure, yet allows moisture from within the room to escape. In addition, it adds an extra layer of insulation and creates a windproof barrier.
Larch cladding is fitted over this membrane. You have the choice between Siberian Larch and locally sourced Scotlarch. Larch is a very durable timber and can be left untreated to weather to a silver grey colour. In addition, Larch cladding has an attractive grain detail. You can choose between tongue & groove and shadow gap profiles for your external cladding.
The roof is covered in a low maintenance EPDM membrane. The rubber membrane is laid in one sheet, so there are no joints. The Firestone Rubber Cover EPDM that Outside In Garden Rooms use offers a 20+ year lifespan.
To complete the durable, low maintenance exterior uPVC doors and windows are used.
