Having thoroughly researched their options, a husband and wife looking to create an art studio each, in their garden, commissioned Sanctum Garden Studios to transform their vision into reality. While some couples have approached the option of creating a studio each have chosen to build two standalone buildings, this couple decided to build one large building and divide it into two.
They decided to build a 7.2m wide by 3.5m deep building from Sanctum Garden Studios Contemporary Range. The Contemporary Range is a Cedar clad studio that is available in two rooflines. One option is to create a cube style roofline. The other option is to have the roof extend beyond the walls to create an eaves detail. This is what this couple chose. The grey trim of the fascia boards matches the uPVC doors and windows. This dark grey colour offers a sharp contrast with the richness of the Cedar cladding.
Examples of other his & hers garden studios

- His and Hers Garden Studios
- Garden studios side by side
- Not one, but two garden studios fit the bill
The building features a partition wall which has divided the building into two equal size studios. Each studio has a 3 meter wide set of French doors on the front wall. This gives each studio its own access. An internal door has been fitted into the partition wall, so the couple can pop in and see each other!
Each studio features an opening window on the side wall. The left-hand studio has a bigger window than the right hand one. An opening window is a wise addition, which many buyers forget in favour of full length fixed glass windows. There are days when you just want to open a window for some air, rather than having the doors open.
As you can see from these images, the two art studios work well as one overall building. Sanctum Garden Studios have shared a few images of the building as it was constructed. They are useful to see, showing the insulated panels quickly creating the form of the building. The windows going in and the breathable membrane which wraps around the structure prior to the cladding being fitted.
