Garden Spaces have recently completed this striking garden room that has been designed to create inside and outside living space for the family to spend time within their beautiful garden.
Garden Spaces work closely with all their clients to tailor their designs to the clients garden and intended use. In this case, they have created a large garden room which will offer a year-round space for entertaining family and friends. This room has a real connection with the garden thanks to the full height glazing which wraps around two elevations. This glazing is made up by a set of French doors and four glazed panels.
Some buyers worry that by including large expanses of glazing in a garden room design, you are compromising on the overall thermal performance of the building. In this case, the client chose Garden Spaces high-end glazing package. This package includes Argon filled double glazed units, which have the Planitherm 45 heat reflective coating. This package offers a much higher thermal performance than standard double glazing, and comes with a nice little extra – it’s self-cleaning glass!
The doors and windows are powder coated aluminium, which is again a high spec choice. The grey finish contrasts well with the Western Red Cedar cladding. The original reddish brown colour can be maintained with a UV oil, or left to weather to a silver grey with time.
Internally Garden Spaces garden rooms have a quality finish like you would find in a new house. The walls and ceiling are plastered and decorated, while the engineered oak flooring is a classic choice. Underfloor heating has been fitted to provide comfortable, ambient heat. The customers have easy control over the temperature thanks to the touchscreen thermostatic control.
Creating an outside living area was as important on this project as the inside living space. The Garden Spaces team designed a large deck area suitable for relaxing and dining. They have used a non-slip composite decking board in a graphite colour, which again contrasts well with the cedar cladding. Composite decking made from a mix of UPVC and wood is a popular option with garden room designers as it combats the slippery surface problems you can get with wood decking. It also comes in a palette of colours which won’t discolour.
