Garden Spaces are at Grand Designs Live this week (show closes 12 May 2019) they are on stand G160. At the show, they are showcasing a new exterior cladding option - Parklex.
This is a revolutionary sheet material that offers the natural beauty of wood but needs no maintenance to stay looking great. It has been used in commercial architecture for some time, but Garden Spaces are the first company to introduce it into garden room design.
Parklex is a laminated wood with thermosetting resins that is compressed at high pressure. This creates a product which has impressive durability. The Garden Spaces team tell us it is bulletproof! The sheets come in nine wood colours. Garden Spaces have used Copper Parklex on their show building and as we can see from this close up image from the Parklex website it has a beautiful colouration and wood grain detail.
Parklex is highly resistant to UV-light so the boards will retain their colour without the need for maintenance. Traditional timber claddings, by comparison, will weather to a silver grey without on-going maintenance.
Fire resistance
Parklex offers excellent fire resistance properties, and we can see it could be used as part of a multi-layer build-up on garden rooms that are being sited tight the boundaries of the garden. Garden Spaces are experienced in designing garden rooms tight to the boundaries. Reach out to them for more information.
A show building full of features
As well as showcasing this new cladding option, the show building showcases several different features you can include in a garden room — features such as bi-fold doors, sliding doors and roof windows.
