A garden room can be a great place for entertaining friends and family. A place where you can all spend time away from the distractions of the main house. This recent project by Crown Pavilions is a great example of a garden room designed for entertaining.
Crown Pavilions client had a vision for an inside/outside entertaining space. To achieve this, they not only chose to build an insulated garden room but also a Crown Pavillions Gazebo. The two buildings connected by a composite deck, which in itself creates another place to sit and talk.
The garden is wider than deep, so consideration needed to be given to the best configuration, to maximise the space, yet not dominate the garden. At 8 meters wide by 5 meters deep, a large garden room was created. A wall of doors will open the room up onto the garden. The doors are hardwood rather than uPVC and spray painted in the Crown Pavilions factory prior to delivery for the best finish. The doors are double glazed with argon filled units. The glazing also features aluminium blinds which are integrated within the glazing unit – a high spec finish.
The garden room is designed for year-round use. It is highly insulated with 100mm of insulation in the floor, walls and roof. This will come into its own soon, as the owners have entertainment plans for the room over the festive season. Guests will be served drinks from the handmade bar that has been installed!
A bespoke deck connects the garden room with the house and the luxury gazebo which is 5m x 3.3m. The grey deck contrasts well with the natural browns of the Western Red Cedar that has been used to clad the garden room. The deck has been shaped to make a feature of the height differences in the garden.

The project was built under the Permitted Development rules, so did not require Planning Permission. The project was completed in three and half weeks on-site, which is impressive for two large buildings and a substantial deck.
The two buildings and connecting deck cost £93,400 including VAT
