How about earning an income from your garden room building? A recent Crusoe Garden Rooms customer is doing just that via Airbnb. The family in North Yorkshire approached the Crusoe Garden Rooms team asking them to create a fully insulated garden room that can be used as a guest bedroom.
They wanted the garden room to sit beside an existing sone outbuilding that would house a kitchenette and shower room, with the new room becoming the living/sleeping space. The two buildings are separate from one another.
When building a garden room for use as a bedroom it needs to comply with Building Regulations. Crusoe Garden Rooms client liaised with Building Control throughout the project and had obtained planning permission for the project prior to engaging the Crusoe team.
The garden room sits on a footprint of 4 meters by 3 meters, so 12 sqm. The interior fitted with Pine tongue and groove boards which mixed with a light oak laminate floor has created a cool Scandinavian style room, that houses a double bed, sofa and TV.
The garden room was built at the end of 2017 and by February 2018 had had its first guests. Guests love the setup and have given it 5-star reviews. The garden room part of the project cost less than £14,000 to build. The annexe is being let for £65 per night, so will quickly be a good return on the investment.
