We have long admired the garden rooms and house extensions being designed and built by the team at MOSSpods. They have developed a stylish twist on contemporary garden room design. We admire their knack of making simple materials like Birch plywood and exposed structural elements sing together, to create beautiful interiors. This garden office project is a fine example.
This 4.1m x 4.1m garden office is from MOSSpods Park Range. It features Larch exterior cladding mixed dark grey French doors. These have been positioned to allow one corner of the office to open out onto the garden.
The palette of materials used for the interior of the office stands out in the market. The finishes such as Oak floorboards, Birch plywood and Redwood beams mix together to create an interior that oozes that ‘hygge’ Scandinavian feel. The choice of lighting adds to the feel. Filament light bulbs with bare cords have been used.
A pared down finish like this takes skill to achieve. The MOSSpods team obviously is made up of several craftsmen, who have an eye for detail.
Matching storage pod
As well as needing a home office, MOSSpods clients also needed storage for garden tools etc. MOSSpods offer several solutions for creating storage alongside their garden rooms. In this case, it was decided that a sperate pod was the best bet. Sited a couple of meters away from the office, it has been designed in the same style and makes use of the same materials, so that it complements the main building.
Once the buildings were completed, the MOSSpods team landscaped the garden around them. Their clients chose light grey granite paving that complements the grey finish of the French doors and completes the contemporary style.
The main office took three weeks to complete. A similarly sized office starts at £35,100 plus VAT.
