Harrison James design and build bespoke, contemporary style garden rooms. This recent commission showcases their style and workmanship beautifully.
Designed to maximise their clients stunning garden and the view beyond, Harrison James maximised the glazing on the front elevation and wrapped it around on to the side elevations, so the room has panoramic views.
The 4.5 meter x 3.6 meter building is to be used as an extra living room for the family. Its designed to be a place where the teenage children can entertain friends, and the parents hold outdoor dinner parties.
To cater for its multiple uses, the room has been wired with satellite television, music system and data cabling for easy connection to the internet. All of this cabling has been incorporated into the structure of the building so there are no unsightly wires, everything just plugs straight into the wall.
The garden room is clad in Canadian Cedar, which has been fixed vertically to enhance the contemporary style. The Cedar cladding has had a UV oil protective coating which will help it maintain its rich colour, otherwise it will fade to a silver grey. Dark brown UPVC joinery has been chosen, which to our eye makes a pleasant change to the grey doors which now dominate the industry, but as Harrison James are bespoke designers you’ll be able to choose whatever finish you like!
Harrison James have chosen a GRP flat roofing system in a dark green finish. This is a very durable, long lasting roof covering using layers of fibreglass.
Internally the room is fully plastered and decorated, just like a room in a new house and a dark laminate floor has been installed.
This project cost the client approximately £25,000 including VAT and installation.
