Garden gym with reinforced floor

eDEN Garden Rooms have built up quite a portfolio of bespoke garden gym buildings in a contemporary style. This yoga studio built a few months ago is a particularly fine example of their work.

With no space in his house to create a home gym, but with a good size leafy garden, eDEN’s customer contacted them to create a home gym, designed especially for him, in the garden.

Home gym in the garden

The home gym building sits on a footprint of 5.5 meters by 4 meters so is a good size building with space for several items of gym equipment.

Because of the weight of the gym equipment and the likely hood of jumping about, the eDEN team designed a reinforced floor for this build. For a garden room that is being used as a home office or an artist’s studio the standard floor specification would be sufficient, but for a home gym building, it is worth upping the specification and reinforcing the floor structure. Because eDEN Garden Rooms are bespoke designers, these tailor-made specification choices are part of the service they offer every customer.

A narrow decked area runs along the front of the building

The building has a minimal look, with a set of bi-fold doors positioned in the centre of the front wall. The dark grey finish of the doors is replicated in the fascia boards on the roof overhang. Cedar cladding has been chosen, and this contrasts well with the grey joinery. A simple pallette of materials like this is very effective.

Internally eDEN Garden Rooms finish their rooms to a high specification, with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling and wooden flooring. This home gym building is fully wired electrically, with plenty of sockets for plugging in gym machines. LED downlights have been recessed into the roof overhang on the front elevation, creating, as you can see a nice curtain of light at night.

Difficult access

The garden that this gym was built in, has no side access. This meant that all the materials for this project had to be walked through the customer’s house. This is not as daunting and inconvenient as it sounds. Teams like eDEN Garden Rooms will be au fait with what is involved in walking the materials through the house, without damage occuring to your house or the materials themselves. A site visit is a must when you have restricted access!
