Many families are looking at the space in their garden as a place they can create a room that can be used by all members of the family, together or individually. As we have seen in these articles, garden family rooms can be versatile spaces.
Creating a cinema room is a popular use for a garden family room. This recent project by Green Studios is a particularly fine example.
Green Studios were commissioned to design and build a room that could be used by teenage children to entertain friends, as well as a space that the whole family can congregate to watch films.
The Green Studios team created a highly insulated building that can be comfortably used all year round. The exterior features stylish open board cladding with sliding doors and floor to ceiling windows creating a great connection with the garden.
A sedum roof covering was fitted to help blend the garden room into the surroundings. Sedum roofs also offer an additional layer of thermal and acoustic insulation.
Tailored electrical specification
As bespoke garden room designers, Green Studios work closely with their clients to design an electrical specification around the intended use of the room. In this case, with the room going to be used as a cinema, HDMI cabling was wired into the ceiling to connect to a projector. Power points were specifically positioned, and audiovisual connections hard-wired into the garden room. A router was installed so that the family can stream films and TV from the internet.
The cinema projector can connect to a laptop and DVD player giving the family choice in the way they watch TV shows or films. Speakers have been fitted in the ceiling for a surround sound experience.
