Creating a home office has long been a popular use for an outdoor room, and this has only increased over the last eighteen months as people explore new ways of working.
We have been following the work of Kent-based eDEN Garden Rooms since 2011 and have featured several of the bespoke garden office buildings they have created over the last decade.
eDEN Garden Rooms offer a bespoke design service. This means they approach each project with a blank sheet and design a building around their clients intended use and for the garden, it sits in.
A wide variety of businesses are being run from an eDEN garden office building. Here are just a few examples from the last year:
Professional music studio in the garden
Music producer Alan ordered his first building from eDEN Garden Rooms in 2013 to house his desk and the selection of instruments he needed for his work. So, when he moved house, one of the first things he did was contact eDEN to design him a new studio. The new office is 4.5m x 3m with beautiful Western Red Cedar cladding and bi-fold doors.
The office features a well-specified electrical package that includes Wi-Fi so that Alan can connect with anywhere in the world from the bottom of his garden.
Garden broadcast studio
Before the pandemic hit, Simon, eDEN Garden Rooms client, was travelling abroad for his work as a business consultant. He had just had his garden room installed when international travel stopped, and he quickly realised he could still work with his international clients from his back garden.
Working with interior designers, Simon has created a stylish workspace. He uses it as a professional broadcast studio, mixing four screens with Microsoft Hub software. Simon is now broadcasting his presentations to thousands of people at a time, all around the world.
Accountants office
eDEN's bespoke design service came into its own for Daren's project. The garden office was designed to slot into space at the side of his house. The layout provides space for two desks and a toilet and kitchenette.
The addition of the toilet and kitchen space is convenient for Daren but futureproofs the building if he or a future owner wishes to use it for another use. Flexibility like this adds considerable value when you come to sell.
Building a garden office has been good for business. Using video conferencing, he can now see more clients each day compared to when he was on the road travelling to see them in person.
Boutique gym building
Working with their client Kathy, eDEN Garden Rooms designed this garden room around the gym equipment that would go in it. This is no 'standard' garden room.
So that Kathy's clients could do bodyweight work, the floor, walls and ceiling needed to be reinforced. To allow for this reinforcement and to offer extra headroom in the gym, the eDEN team sought permission to build a 3m tall building (garden rooms are typically 2.5m high).
eDEN's bespoke building design, allows Kathy to offer a bespoke gym experience for her clients.

The various ways these buildings are being used is testament to eDEN Garden Rooms ability to tailor each building to the customer's unique needs.
