Log cabin style garden offices are very popular and the range from Cabin Living appear to be very good quality. All cabins are available on a full installation service (including foundation) and on a self assembly basis. Cabin Living have a wide selection of cabins from pitched roof traditional style units to flat roof contemporary units as illustrated here.
Log cabin style garden offices have a different specification to most of the other buildings we feature on this site, the most notable difference is that the timber used in the wall construction forms both the wall structure and the internal and external cladding, Cabin Living offer buildings with 28mm, 34mm, 44mm, 50mm and 70mm thick walls – the thicker the wall the stronger and warmer the building will be, this is a consideration as the walls are not insulated.

Cabin Living insulate the floors and roof of their garden offices with 50mm Celotex or Kingspan insulation, these are high performance rigid insulations commonly used in the construction of houses. Most Cabin Living models have double glazed units which add to the thermal performance of the log cabin.
Inside the cabins the ceilings can be finished in either plasterboard which is taped at the joints or the optional wooden tongue & groove boards which will compliment the walls. The floor can be finished in either real wood or laminate flooring in a range of thicknesses from 6mm to 18mm thick.
The cabins can be electrically wired with consumer unit, lighting and sockets and the includes an armoured cable connect to your home.
Externally the roof of the cabins are finished in bitumen tiles and Cabin Living offer the option of guttering – it’s worth considering this as its amazing how much water runs off the roof of a garden building, you can run guttering into a water butt for use on your garden or to a soak way. The external finish of the cabins is a blank canvas and Cabin Living offer a range of paint and stain finishes for the customer to choose, we particularly like the look of the garden office in the photos above which is finished in Sadolin Jacobean walnut.
Cabin Living have an extensive range of cabin designs on their website and in addition they offer a bespoke design service so the cabin can be tailored to your needs. A Cheltenham Range log cabin 4m x 3.1m in 44mm thick timber starts at £3,300 and a typical cabin installation takes 3 to 4 days.
Cabin Living customers have this to say:
Cabin Living installed a cabin for us. They were efficient, friendly, hardworking and got the job done quickly and with excellence. They were also very good value for money compared to other quotes we had for the work. They were flexible, adapted easily to the difficulties of our site, and provided good follow-up customer care. We are using the cabin as a garden office and it is brilliant – very warm in the winter, and in the summer you are so close to the garden that it hardly even feels like work, James Close, Oxford
Absolutely first class job from this company. Fraser and Paul were hard working, professional, tidy and approachable. The product and the finish were first class. I would not hesitate recommending them to anyone. All in all i am delighted with my log cabin. Jean Rookes, Leuchars
