We were intrigued to receive details of Delhi based architect Sushant Jain’s ‘Cabin in the Woods’ design.
Sushant has designed the building as an answer to lessen masonry construction and be quick to construct. Having taken his MA in the UK Sushant is familiar with the concept of the garden room and feels his design would work well in the UK.
The cabin is 12ft x 15ft and makes use of the high quality, sustainable hardwoods available in India. The Cabin has been designed to be supplied in kit form which could be shipped to the UK for construction.
With a kit price that equates to £40 GBP per square foot, plus shipping and assembly costs it could be an appealing option for the UK garden room buyer.
The Specification Includes:
- FOUNDATION – M.S.Pipes and channels
- FLOOR – Hard-wood timber
- WALLS – Composite Panel of hard-wood and Tin
- WINDOWS – Powder-coated Aluminium
- DOORS – Seasoned Wooden panel Doors
- ROOF – Composite Panel of hard-wood and Tin
The Cabin Furniture Includes:
- Bench 5’x2′ (1)
- Bistro-chair (2)
- Bistrotable (1)
- Small-woodstove (1)
- Table-lamps (2)
- Dressing/writingtable 2 2’x2.5′
- Writerschair 2
- Mirror 2
Sushant has created a short video tour of the Cabin which is worth a watch:
The Cabin in the Woods would make a charming addition to a garden or could be a good business solution as a unique ‘glamping’ pod.
