We love it when a company comes up with a unique take on the garden room concept and Cabin Habit certainly have, with their cabins which they describe as uniquely mid-century, urban-industrial in style, mixing curved corrugated steel with timber and varnished ply.
Cabin Habit buildings are versatile, fully insulated and timber lined, and are certainly an antidote to the ubiquitous wooden chalet-like building or modernist cube. Simple in structure and design, all buildings are prefabricated in the Cabin Habit workshop and installed quickly on site, in a range of finishes to suit the customer’s taste, garden and budget.
We like the way Cabin Habit have combined elements of industrial design with the naturalness of timber paneling, creating a very appealing building which is available in three standard sizes 12′ x 16′, 12′ x 12′, 12′ x 8′ (W x L), all with an additional 4′ porch at the front. These are all good sizes which could be used for a variety of uses from home office to unique holiday accommodation units.
Cabin Habit can easily incorporate internal partitions to form more than one room/space depending on the required use. By reducing the length of the internal space the rear of the building can be left as an open-backed covered shelter (logs, bikes, lawnmower etc).
The Cabin Habit range is designed for year round use, they are fully insulated using environmentally friendly insulation products, timber doors and windows are double glazed, and can be supplied with security locks if required. Different style door and window options are available.
Electrical features are incorporated into the build, and customers can choose under floor heating, and different lighting and socket options. The flooring can be finished in a material of the customer’s taste.
Customers can specify their own finish options for the timber walls, inside and out, (painted, varnished, wallpapered, clad, slatted) or have them left unfinished if desired. The standard galvanized steel roof is also offered in colour-coated finishes so a unique look and feel can be created.
All buildings are manufactured in workshop conditions and then built on site in about 3 days, which is very quick!
So, if you are looking for a unique and rather charming garden room look at the Cabin Habit range, they have different images on their website and a show building which you can visit.
