Buying a garden room is one of the quickest ways to extend your home, with lead times between placing your order and work starting on-site typically being 4 to 6 weeks. Bespoke design can often take a little longer as you can have a lot of input into the design and finishes. The components of a bespoke garden room are then manufactured to order which takes time.
We were, therefore, interested to learn about this bespoke garden office that was designed & built in just four weeks. My Eco Space were approached by a couple who had a tight schedule in which to build a home office. The couple were expecting a baby and wanted to ensure that their building was complete and ready to use by the time the baby arrived, the baby was due in five weeks!
Luckily, the My Eco Space team had the systems in place to work with the client on the design, have the structural calculations for the structure assessed, the components manufactured and to install the building within four weeks.
My Eco Space’s customers Rebecca & Rob wanted to create a good sized garden office, but one that wasn’t visible from the house. It was decided that the office would be positioned in the corner of the garden, to ensure that it couldn’t be seen from the house it was decided that one wall would be set at an angle, cutting off a corner.
The resulting building is 4 meters by 3 meters and cutting off the corner has not affected the spacious feel. We think this is partly due to the positioning of a window on this angled wall. The mix of French doors and picture windows has created a room flooded with natural light.
The exterior of the office has a contemporary look. We particularly like the deep eaves detail, which is sharply detailed with Cedar soffits and grey fascias. Lights have been recessed into the soffits which will create a nice curtain of light down the walls of the building.
We also like the dark grey trim on the corner of the building which matches the doors and windows.
The office is built with highly insulated Eco SIPS panels. For the coldest days of the year, a digitally controlled heater has been incorporated. The well specified electrical system includes hardwired Cat6 data cabling for reliable internet connections.
The My Eco Space team ensured they met their clients brief in terms of design and timeframe, Rebecca & Rob’s baby arrived seven days after the keys to the office were handed over.
