If a home gym building like this one by Aroha Escapes doesn’t inspire you to get fit in 2019, nothing will. The 6m x 4m building has been designed around the clients’ needs, creating their perfect gym layout.
Aroha Escapes
Built on steel screw piles
Aroha Escapes used steel screw piles as the foundation for the gym. Screw piles have become the go-to system for many garden room designers as they can be installed in a matter of hours and can easily overcome uneven ground.
The screw piles are spaced evenly under the structure. When calculating the spacing, not only is the load of the building itself taken into consideration, but also the intended use of the room. In this case, thought will have been given to the weight of the gym equipment when calculating the spacing and size of screw piles used.
Siberian Larch cladding
The gym is highly insulated with 100mm of insulation in each of the floor, walls and roof. Externally the walls are clad in Siberian Larch, which is a durable softwood that will last for several decades. Larch starts out a mellow honey colour but as it ages will weather to a silver grey.
Inside, the walls and ceiling have been plaster-boarded, skimmed and decorated. A durable laminate flooring has been fitted. The room is fully wired electrically with the specification including wi-fi, and tv cabling and points.
The Aroha Escapes team completed this project in 2-weeks on site.
