Not every garden is flat and square, and can appear problematic if you are thinking of building a garden room, but this is where bespoke design comes into its own! With bespoke design a garden room is designed and built especially for the site and what its going to be used for, with bespoke design what can be perceived as a problem can be designed around and ultimately become a feature of the build.
Bespoke garden room designers Executive Garden Rooms have recently completed a garden office project on what could have been considered a difficult site. The proposed plot for the spacious 21sqm office was an awkward shape with five corners – none of which was 90 degrees! Not only was the site not square, but it wasn’t level either with a fall from one side to the other of 600mm (2ft).
Because Executive Garden Rooms only design bespoke garden rooms they were fully equiped with solutions for this site, they shaped the walls to overcome the awkward shape of the plot and installed a reinforced concrete slab to overcome the uneven site – thus providing a subsantial, permenat foundation for the garden office.
The client choose Executive Garden Rooms because they design their buildings to comply with Building Regulations – garden room suppliers are not forced to comply with Building Regs unless the room they are building is larger than 15sqm or contains sleeping accommodation, buildings between 15-30sqm with no sleeping accommodation also don’t require Building Regulations if they are sited more than 1 meter from the boundary – but its very good practice to build to Building Regulation standards, as Executive Garden Rooms say
It is recommended by Building Control that if you use your garden room as an office, it must comply with full building control to ensure sufficient ventilation.”
This garden office has all the features you would expect in a modern office space, LED down-lighters, underfloor heating and quality Karndean flooring which Executive Garden Rooms have chosen for its durability over regular laminate flooring. Broadband and telephone lines were installed as an optional upgrade making this an office that could work in a global environment from the bottom of the garden!
