Case study of Atelier’s angular S range

The Brief
The majestic landscape of the Saddleworth Moors was the motivation behind the client’s request for a garden studio that would allow the scenery to flood in and inspire their creativity. As a result, the proposed studio would sit on a narrow garden terrace overlooking the valley below the client’s property.
The Process
An elongated, bespoke design was created, based on Atelier’s S range of studios, which measured just over three metres wide. A feeling of space would be created with the addition of folding sliding doors at one end of the studio and a three metre long window positioned along one side of the studio overlooking the Saddleworth Moors.
The Result
A fine angular studio has been created which makes great use of a narrow plot. The folding sliding door system and long, sliding window allow the beautiful Yorkshire scenery to flood the studio, seemingly enlarging it far beyond its three metre width. The finished studio provides an inspirational space for artistic creativity and solace, which is, nonetheless, tough enough to quell harsh Yorkshire winters up on the Moors.
Clients Comment
“The studio has proved to be a valuable additional space and Atelier have listened to, and complied with, our requirements to the letter, and we would recommend Atelier without reservation.”
