Often overlooked as purely a weatherproof top. A good looking roof adds a lot to a garden room. Particularly when viewed from an upstairs window or when the building is sited close to the house.
Virtually flat roofs with an EPDM covering are commonplace in garden room design. They are highly durable and quick to install, but nobody could say that they are pretty. A large expanse of dark grey/black rubber isn't the most attractive of choices!
Garden2Office understand the difference an attractive roof can make to a garden room, and they offer a range of options for you to choose from.
This pitched roof garden room from Garden2Office's Malmo range is an excellent example of how your choice of roof covering can add to the appearance and style of the building.
Garden2Office import a highly insulated Swedish garden room range. Each one can be tailored to your specific needs, in relation to size, layout and finishes.
The roof coverings used are also Swedish and designed to withstand the harsh Nordic climate. The Malmo range utilizes a metal roofing system by Plannja. The metal sheets are coated to offer a long maintenance-free lifespan. We see from the literature they are designed to shed large slabs of ice and snow so are up for whatever our British climate throws at it!
The interlocking sheets are lightweight, yet highly protective of the insulated structure, and don't they look good! The metal roofing comes in a range of colours, so you can choose one to compliment your exterior cladding. The dark grey roofing of this pilates studio looks great with the Thermowood cladding. In contrast, the black finish looks wonderful with the black cladding and door frames creating a stylish monotone look.
You are not limited to a dual pitched roof
You don't have to opt for a dual pitched roof garden room to add an interesting roof covering. A living roof covering is a great choice for flat and mono-pitch roofs.
Often with flat roof designs (they are not totally flat) when you choose a living roof covering, you only get to see it when you are viewing from an upstairs window.
Garden2Office can design you a roof so that the living roof covering can be admired from ground level. They can create mono-pitched designs with slopes of up to 15%. This example from their Sports Kabin range shows how the steeper pitch allows you to see more of the serum roof covering.
As you can see from these photos, the choice of roof covering has added a lot to the appearance of the garden rooms.
