In the hot seat today for our 5 minute question and answer session is Swift:
What makes your company / garden rooms unique?
Our attention to you… the client!
We believe in strong, genuine relationships that enable us to work hand-in-hand with our clients. This process includes examining exactly what will make the project something special. A project that will produce satisfied smiles and plenty of use for years to come.
Nothing comes “off-the-shelf” at Swift. We prefer to have the flexibilty to tune everything to suit our clients dreams. Because we have such excellent suppliers and fitters we are still able to keep lead times and installation schedules down TO impressively brief periods.
Honesty and transparancy, combined with attentiveness and a love for this profession make for buildings and service that exceeds expectations.
What feature of your garden rooms are you most proud of?
he subtle and attractive Swift emblem that we attach to each completed project.
That little, beautifuly crafted oval badge is a sign of our pride in the building and the permanance of our commitment to our clients satisfaction.
As far as the physical features of the building itself, well the most satisfying elements are those that make our client the most excitied. This varies each time, but a great example is the skylight in the custom made artists studuo that we completed recently. This, combined with some rather snazzy bi-fold doors opening out over the Derbyshire countryside, has created a light and appealing workplace for a professional artist. She is delighted and can’t wait to get to work in the morning!
Nothing gives us more satisfaction and pride than another glowing testimonial from another happy client.
When designing your garden rooms, which is more important form or function?
The building must work. It’s structure and integrity need to be able to fulfil all the functions that the client requires… and some that perhaps haven’t yet been thought of.
Moreover, the appearance, atmosphere and “WOW” are just as vital. We are all emotive, and will gain pleasure and satisfaction from a space that simply makes us happy to be there.
So, whatever the rooms purpose, the secret of a succesful build is one that performs beautifully and continues to make you smile long after the small of paint has dispersed.
What scope do you have for incorporating the customers design ideas into your garden rooms?
We will be careful to offer simple and straightforward advice to ensure the feasibilty and cost effectiveness of any project. We will also support any dreams and aspirations that our clients have.
Examples of the elements that we can change to suit individual needs:
* Size, shape, height and layout.
* Roof-line and covering materials
* External appearance (cedar, stone, brick, render, zinc, slate, etc)
* Washrooms, toilets, wetrooms, kitchens, hideaway facilities.
* Doors and windows…. hugely influential in so many ways.
* Extra luxuries: aircon, hot-tub, cinema room, remote electronics, etc.
* Landscaping and lighting features.
We love project-mananging all the different elements that combine to make a great building.
Many customers are concerned about planning permission, how can you help customers with this issue?
We can cover many of the points before we even carry out your site survey. More complicated issues will be handled and there is usually a succesful solution for even the most tricky of situations.
As with everything else we do, we have experts in this area and we will help you to fulfil your expectations.
If planning permission and building regualtions are required then we will handle all of the applications and negotiations on your behalf… smoothly and efficiently.
Although it is faster and often preferable to avoid the need for planning permission, we will always give you advice on the long-term advantages of having the best room for your needs. It may be worthwhile waiting a few short weeks to ensure that you have a lifetimes enjoyment of your great new space. It’s a bit like waiting a little longer for the perfect colour and spec of a new car, or perhaps having a new suit tailored rather than off the peg!
A Swift Garden Room is bespoke to your needs.
Not every site is level, what options do you have for building your garden rooms on uneven ground?
Whatever it takes!
Build it up and provide sympathetically planned access,
Dig it down and ensure protection from landslip or dampness,
Split level the building itself,
Examine other potential sites in the garden.
…. or any combination of the above. With architects, landscape designers and engineers on our team we are able to find a robust and permanant solution to most settings.
Planning, cost, environmental and aesthetic factors will all be studied to ensure the continued viability for our cients wishes.
Some customers are concerned about the ongoing maintenance of a garden room, what annual maintenance do your garden rooms require?
Our buildings are all manufactured from materials that are also used in house construction. This way you can be sure of their longevity and their low maintenance. Typically you will simply treat the building, inside and out, just as you would any other part of your home.
In the case of the popular Western Red Cedar cladding, this will, over time, develope a silver-grey patina unless it is treated. It’s integrity will remain intact without the application of any stains or preservatives, though the appearance may not suit your tastes…. it is nice to be able to make an informed decision.
What aftercare do you offer your customers?
Like you, we want your new space to keep looking great over the years and we are always available to offer advice over any aspect of it’s long-term appearance and durability.
This includes any requests to make changes to and adapt the room. After all, things can change.
Our buildings are covered by an insurance-backed 10 year structural warranty.
We keep our clients informed about any interesting new knowledge or developements that could enhance their ownership of a Swift Garden Room.
We believe in getting the perfect solution for our clients and their needs.. for the long term.
