Garden Fortress have recently completed this contemporary style garden room in Richmond.
3m x 4m is a very common size for a garden room, but what is unusual about this building is that its oriented with the main glazing on the smaller wall.
Garden Fortress have created a real indoor / outdoor living space by building a cedar deck around the building. The roof has been extended from the front elevation to create a canopy which offers a shaded seating area. The canopy is fitted with LED down lights which are operated by a remote control.
The glazing is focused towards the front of the building with a set of sliding doors on the front elevation and a high level lozenge window alongside. On the left hand elevation a full length narrow window has been added.
Cedar has been used on both the walls and the deck which ensures the deck and building match, both now and as the building weathers. Look closely at the cladding on the front elevation and the roof canopy, the boards have been chosen to match perfectly – Garden Fortress are masters at this detailing.
Internally the customer asked Garden Fortress to install a plywood lining prior to fitting the plasterboard, this ensures he will have a good fixing for shelving in the future without having to locate the studs. The customer also chose to have underfloor heating for maximum comfort.
This building took two workers 11 days to build onsite. The project cost the customer £15,500 which seems very competitive for this size of garden room.
