I was clearing my Sky+ box the other day in readiness for the Christmas onslaught when I came across an episode of ‘My Flat Pack Home’, that I had recorded a few weeks ago. As the name suggests My Flat Pack Home follows families as they build their dream houses from kits, the episode I recorded was call the Leighton’s and followed a couple as they built a garden studio in the grounds of their new build home.
The garden studio formed the focus of the programme because unlike the main house the Leighton’s had chosen a flat pack garden studio kit from respected manufactures In.it.Studios, a company that we regularly feature on this site.
In.it.Studios had designed the garden studio specifically to meet the Leighton’s requirements; the studio was to be used as a home office but needed to incorporate a kitchenette area and toilet area (see plan). The modular timber frame was manufactured off site and fully assembled and finished to a high standard in less than three weeks onsite. The whole build moved seamlessly as In.it.Studios had an onsite project manager meaning the clients were able to stand back and be amazed at the speed of the build.
The final product is a stunning contemporary studio which clearly fulfilled all the Leighton’s expectations. The garden studio features a living roof which was laid as pre-grown matting, a deck area wraps around the outside of the studio which increases the living space in the summer. The studio has an attractive combination of full length glazed windows and solid bifold doors, show host Amanda Lamb was more than a little impressed with the lights in the roof overhang – all quality finishing details that count.
My Flat Pack Home is shown on the Home channel, if you see its being repeated its worth a watch, not only is it good PR for the designs and service of In.it.Studios, but clearly showcases how quick and hassle free installing a garden studio can be – the ideal way to gain extra space!
