Several of the garden room companies we feature here on The Garden Room Guide have appeared in the Home chanels My Flat Pack Home including the popular bespoke design specialists Roomworks. Paul Barton from Roomworks gives some background to the build:
My Flat Pack Home recently featured a studio built for a professional artist based in Nottingham. The challenge for the UK’s leading garden room company, Roomworks, was to harvest as much light from the north as possible. Generally, painters prefer northern day light in their studios as that light changes the least in “colour temperature” from sunrise via high noon to dusk. This means that the hues and values of painted colours can be read by the same colour of light all day long. To facilitate this, Roomworks worked closely with Velux. The height of the building (at over 5m), the size and position of skylights and an asymmetrical roof design optimised the amount of light in the studio.
Becasue Roomworks specialise in bespoke design garden rooms they are very popular with customers looking for a unique, tailor made garden room and 2011 has been a record year, as Paul explains:
We decided really early on, that Roomworks would design and build genuinely bespoke buildings. We have found that our customers want more than adapted, standard design. Roomworks’ reputation for high quality design and build has created exciting new opportunities. This scale and complexity of individual projects has grown – early next year, for instance, we have a £250,000 school complex to build.”
