Room4-you recently entered the garden room market with a range of ‘Unique Outdoor Room’ solutions.
Room4-you have recently completed this 4800mm x 3600mm fully insulated garden room with an additional 8sqm deck area. Room4-you have cleverly combined the crispness of contemporary design with some of the best elements of traditional style garden rooms such as the vaulted ceiling with feature windows which not only creates an airy, spacious feeling but also offers good acoustic properties.
Room4-you use a traditional timber frame method to build their garden rooms. The frame is built from 180 x 50mm CLS timber (CLS is timber which is kiln dried and planed to precise tolerances in accordance with British Standards), 150mm Rockwool insulation is fitted tightly between the studwork which offers good thermal and acoustic properties, the finished wall has a u-value of 0.23 W/m2K which is well performing against current building regulations which state external walls should have a u-value of 0.35 W/m2K (the lower the u-value the better) and even out performs the new building regulations of 0.30W/m2K which come into force in October 2010. The exterior of the garden room is clad in 19mm Siberian Larch which is fixed horizontally and is both aesthetically pleasing and naturally durable.
Internally there is a 50mm air gap between the insulation and the internal lining, this gap not only helps create the low u-value of the wall but also acts as a utility channel for the electrics and air conditioning pipes. The interior of the garden room is lined with a double layer of 12.5mm Fermacell which is high performance sheeting made from a mixture of raw gypsum, recycled paper fibres and water.
The floor is finished in 22mm engineered oak boards fitted over a 18mm OSB (Oriented Strand Board) floor deck and 150mm Rockwool and 180 x 50mm joists.
The garden room has FSC timber windows and French doors with toughened, low e argon filled double glazed units which have an impressively low u-value of 1.4W/m2K (current building regulations state 2.20 W/m2K, and the lower the figure the better). The windows and doors are finished in a slate grey which contrasts well against the natural cladding. The doors have an integrated multi point locking system for additional security.
Room4-you haven’t skinted on the electrical system, this garden room has 4 up/down lighters, fitted with dimmer switches and 13 double sockets all finished with brushed stainless steel plates. Heating and cooling of the garden room is controlled by a Mitsubishi 3.9kW, 1200Btu air source heat pump offering precise temperature control all year round.
The gable roof is constructed from 219mm deep rafters with a 9mm OSB roof decking which is sheathed in waterproof membrane and breather paper. Slate tiles are fitted onto treated battens and the roof has a cleverly designed integral gutter which runs to two water butts for rainwater collection.
Room4-you are members of the Consumer Protection Association which offers customers a risk free insurance backed guarantee.
